There are some great websites that specialize in Greek mythology. Remember–know the source! If you are going to cite material for a school project, it needs to reliable!

Here are a couple of useful websites on Greek mythology that come from trustworthy sources:

 

  • Winged Sandals  Winged Sandals is a great site from the University of Melbourne in Australia and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Click on “Who’s Who” on the top menu bar to view the stories and family trees of gods, monsters and mortals. Click “History” for information on the art, architecture, politics, and more of Ancient Greece. Click “Storytime” for entertaining animated tales from Greek mythology.
  • Fact Monster  Fact Monster is a helpful resource for any topic. It comes from Pearson Education and has an almanac, dictionary, encyclopedia and more on its site. To research Greek mythology, go to the “Reference Desk” box at the bottom left of the home page and click “Encyclopedia.” This takes you to the Columbia Encyclopedia, 6th Edition. In the “Browse by Subject” section at the right side of the site, choose “History,” then under the Ancient Greece and Rome heading, click “Ancient History, Greece.” You will see a long list of characters, places, and events you can click on for articles. You can also choose “Word Wise” Almanac from the top box of the Fact Monster home page. When you see the list of subjects, click “Mythology” and you will see a long list of articles that might help your research. At any time you can use the search box on Fact Monster to insert your specific search terms. This search will produce results from all tools on the website.
